Kick off the New Year by making a resolution to improve your home security and there is no better way of doing that than with this excellent NVR kit. The kit includes a mini NVR, four IP cameras and all the cables and wiring to get you started. An NVR (Network video recorder) is distinctly different from a digital video recorder (DVR) as its input is from a network rather than a direct connection to a video capture card or tuner. Video on a DVR is encoded and processed at the DVR, while video on this NVR is encoded and processed at the camera, then streamed to the NVR for storage or remote viewing. The NVR has a connection for HDMI so that you can connect to an external HD monitor or TV to view all the footage that has been capture in true clarity. The system supports Power over Ethernet or PoE for short, which describes any of several standardized or ad-hoc systems that pass electrical power along with data on Ethernet cabling. The advantage for this is that it allows a single cable to provide both data connection and electrical power to devices such as wireless access points or IP cameras. Coming as part of the package is four IP cameras that a 1/4 inch progressive scanning CMOS sensor as well as a resolution of 1280×720 to capture everything in high quality. An Internet protocol camera, or IP camera, is a type of digital video camera commonly employed for surveillance, and which, unlike analog closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, can send and receive data via a computer network and the Internet. Plus there is an IR range of up to about 20 to 25 meters providing the cameras with night vision support.
